Emily Lena Turner age 92 formerly of Brockton passed away on Saturday April 22, 2017 in Kansas City, MO . She was in residence there for the past 25 years. She was the Daughter of the late Carl A. and A. Maude (Churchill) Turner. Godmother to Michael Ide of Maryland.
Emily graduated from Brockton High School Class of 42 then attended Business School in Brockton and was employed as an assistant Treasurer at the Campello Cooperative Bank in Brockton for about 20 years. She then joined the Stonecroft Ministries in Overland Park, Kansas. She was a wonderful person with a beautiful singing voice. She would sing duets with her Uncle Ellsworth Turner at the South Street Methodist Church in Brockton. She was a Sunday School Teacher there and taught so many young people.
Emily joined Stonecroft Ministries in 1965, a Christians Women’s Club, women learning about Christ. She traveled all around the North East Region establishing Christian women’s groups to help train women in Christian leadership. She traveled 11 months of the year helping women tell their stories, and the stories of God. Her prayer life was wonderful and she believed in sharing the Gospel with her Bible stories and prayer groups, a true evangelist. She was a roll model for Christian women and a National Representative for Stonecroft. She had a great laugh, a great personality, a very strong faith, which she shared throughout the years, and her life of prayer was a model for all of her friends. Many people are in Heaven for the work she did at Stonecroft.
A graveside service will take place at Melrose Cemetery on No. Pearl St., Brockton on Monday May 1st at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
