Pedro-Vasquez Rumana

Pedro Vasquez Rumaña was born in Girardot Colombia on November 29, 1928 and passed peacefully at the age of 91 on Saturday December 14, 2019 surrounded at home by his loving family in Canton, MA. The devoted husband of Ana Silvia (Leguizamon) Vasquez for almost 70 years. 

Pedro lived a challenging childhood that planted the seed to his legacy as a humble, generous and kind man. He later became an independent Design Engineer for the auto industry in Colombia where he loved making products for his customers in his workshop. As the Patriarch of his family, he did his best to support and care for them. He taught his family and loved ones what it meant to have a strong work ethic and served as a great teacher to everyone he met in his long lifetime. He always enjoyed his favorite traditional Colombian soup sancocho. Later in life he was proud to become an American citizen and the opportunity to vote was an honor for him. He will be remembered for his blue eyes, walking with both hands clenched behind his back, saluting friends, his willingness to help others and holding his hand across his chest beaming with pride.

He is survived by his beloved children Sylvia Narvaez and her husband Jorge Narvaez of Bogota Colombia; Teresa Andrade and her husband Fabio Andrade Sr. of Stoughton, MA; Esperanza Vasquez of Canton, MA; Ruth Andrade and her husband Carlos Andrade of Miami, FL; Cecilia Muñoz and her husband Jaime Muñoz of Brockton, MA; Pedro Vasquez and his wife Pillar Vasquez of Texas. His grandchildren will all hold on to memories of their dear Abuelito including Kevin, Andrea, Diana, Jorge, Fabio Jr., Angela, Carlos, David, Juan and Pedro and 6 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Esperanza for taking special care of him with the support of hospice staff.

A funeral mass in his honor will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 335 Main St. Brockton MA 02301 on Wednesday December 18, 2019 at 9AM. Interment will be held privately.
