Betty Ryan Obituary

Betty (Ellis) Ryan, 91, died peacefully on the morning of August 8th at The Guardian Center nursing home. She had lived a very full life.

Born in Brockton on February 9th, 1929, she was the youngest daughter of Alma Grinnell and George Ellis; sister to Norma Hunt of Halifax, the late Winnifred Condon of Abington, and the late Geraldine Brady of Brockton. Betty was wife to the late Francis E. Ryan, with whom she proudly raised four wonderful boys; Frank, Steven, David, and Mark. Her sons would all marry and provide a large extended family that she cared for deeply. She is survived by her four children, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Throughout her life Betty and Fran had a love for fine antiques and art. Later in life she started to produce paintings of her own; quintessential New England folk style art, which won her numerous awards and accolades. She also loved crafting, including needlepoint and stained glass, and also had a fondness for animals.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 on Friday, August 14th, at Elmwood Cemetery in East Bridgewater, Mass. Due to concerns and safety measures surrounding Covid, there will be no wake.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Brockton's Fuller Craft Museum
