Marjorie J. (Hooker) Gammon of Middleboro formerly of West Bridgewater passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Wingate Nursing Home in Kingston, surrounded by her family after a period of failing health. She was 86.
She was the beloved wife of Robert T. Gammon for 63 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children David Gammon, his wife Marilyn of East Bridgewater and their children Nicole and Brett, and Jane A. Burns and her husband Daniel of Norton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was sister to the late Edward Hooker of East Bridgewater.
Marjorie was born Sept 25, 1929 to the late Lewis and Alice (Lindskog) Hooker of East Bridgewater. She was raised in East Bridgewater and graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1947. She attended Boston University and graduated in 1949 with an Associate Degree in Commercial Science. She worked in the Brockton Savings Bank Life Insurance Department until her marriage in 1953. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of East Bridgewater. After her husband's retirement in 1986, they spent the next 25 years between Pinellas Park, FL and Massachusetts. She enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Europe, New Zealand and Australia as well as China and Japan. The highlight of her travels was in 1986 when she went on a safari in Kenya, Africa.
Visiting hours will be in the Sampson-Hickey-Grenier (MacKinnon) Funeral Home 309 Main St., Brockton on Monday June 13th 4-7 PM. Funeral service will be in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 14th at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow in Beaver Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
